Senior Virtual Desktop Engineer

About the role

The multinational organization seeks a Senior Virtual Desktop Engineer to lead Level 3 support and development of enterprise virtual workplace platforms. You will ensure a secure, reliable, and high‑performing virtual desktop experience while driving automation and continuous improvement across the Digital Workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 3 operational support for Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, Windows 365, and Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops.
• Manage host pools, images, policies, user assignments, session hosts and perform capacity planning.
• Develop and enhance cloud‑based virtual desktop solutions for scalability and resilience.
• Troubleshoot complex VDI issues including connectivity, authentication, performance, profiles, printing, and application delivery.
• Deploy and maintain golden images, application packages, OS updates and security patches with minimal disruption.
• Automate VDI administration using PowerShell, Azure Automation and Citrix scripting tools.
• Collaborate with Cyber Security teams to implement Conditional Access, MFA and endpoint protection.
• Manage Nerdio Manager for Enterprise for host‑pool scaling, image management, patching and cost optimisation.
• Monitor performance with Nexthink, Azure Monitor, Dynatrace and Citrix Director.
• Support migrations from legacy Citrix platforms to Microsoft cloud‑based solutions and integrate VDI with ServiceNow.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, End‑User Computing or Workplace Platform Engineering.
• Proven expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Microsoft Dev Box and Citrix environments.
