Community Engagement & Advocacy Senior Officer (Minya)

About the role

The Community Engagement & Advocacy Senior Officer will lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community mobilisation and advocacy activities for the GAC SRHR project in Minya, Egypt. The role focuses on improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights through gender‑transformative, youth‑centred approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement participatory community engagement strategies that promote adolescent SRHR and gender equality.
• Coordinate the establishment, training, and functioning of youth groups, women’s associations, civil‑society networks, peer educators, and parent committees.
• Oversee community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and social‑behavioural change interventions for adolescents, caregivers, and community leaders.
• Integrate safeguarding, gender equality, and meaningful youth participation into all community‑based activities.
• Develop and execute local advocacy strategies to address harmful norms affecting adolescent SRHR.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, civil‑society organisations, traditional and religious leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate multi‑stakeholder meetings and community forums to influence local decision‑making and policy implementation.
• Identify opportunities to amplify the voices of adolescents and marginalized groups in policy discussions and public platforms.
• Prepare advocacy and policy briefs that capture community insights and evidence‑based recommendations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community engagement, mobilisation, and advocacy, preferably within SRHR or health programmes.
• Strong knowledge of gender‑transformative approaches and safeguarding practices.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with implementing partners, youth leaders, and local authorities.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating multiple community‑based activities.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for diverse stakeholder groups.
