Data Engineer – AWS Analytics Platform

About the role

Join sonnen’s mission to accelerate the clean‑energy transition by building and operating a modern data analytics platform on AWS. As a Data Engineer you will turn diverse data sources into reliable, actionable insights that power innovative products and services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines that ingest structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources.
• Implement, test and operate core components of sonnen’s analytics platform, including data models and storage solutions.
• Set up data quality checks, monitoring and alerting to guarantee accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Collaborate with business SMEs and stakeholders to capture data requirements and support analytical use cases.
• Maintain version‑controlled code repositories (e.g., GitLab) and follow strict documentation standards.
• Stay informed on emerging data‑engineering technologies and evaluate their fit for the business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist or Data Architect.
• Proven experience with data architecture and warehousing solutions such as AWS Redshift or Databricks.
• Strong focus on data and result quality.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Python programming (including Pandas).
• SQL and NoSQL databases.
• REST API integration.
• Version control systems (GitLab).
• AWS services, especially Redshift.
• Databricks or similar big‑data platforms.
