Database Administration Manager

About the role

The Database Administration Manager will lead Geidea’s database infrastructure strategy, ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, security, and reliability for PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server environments. This senior role oversees a team of DBAs, drives technical excellence, and collaborates with development and infrastructure teams to align database solutions with business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and evaluate the DBA team while establishing standards, policies, and best practices for PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Install, configure, and maintain database instances on‑premises and in cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Aurora PostgreSQL).
• Design scalable architectures, manage upgrades, migrations, and consolidation projects.
• Monitor performance using pgAdmin, SSMS, Prometheus, Grafana and conduct advanced query optimization and index tuning.
• Develop and test backup, disaster‑recovery, and high‑availability solutions such as AlwaysOn, failover clustering, and streaming replication.
• Implement security controls, encryption, auditing, and ensure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.

Required profile

• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities with strong problem‑solving skills.
• 8+ years of database administration experience on SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including 3+ years in a managerial role.

Required skills

• Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments.
• PostgreSQL (replication, partitioning, extensions) and Microsoft SQL Server (HA/DR, performance tuning).
• Database monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, pgAdmin, SSMS.
• Scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
• Cloud‑native databases: AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Aurora PostgreSQL.
