General Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a General Accountant to join our finance team within the tourism and hospitality sector. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting the business during peak seasons.

Key responsibilities

• Post journal entries accurately to maintain balanced ledgers.
• Maintain and organize financial records through filing, retrieval, coding and updating.
• Verify invoices and process payments.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
• Handle payroll processing.
• Manage petty‑cash operations, including bill inspection, receipt handling and cash counts.
• Check and book expenses, reconcile accounts monthly, and issue cheques against supplier invoices.
• Conduct month‑end closing activities to reflect current costs as expenses.
• Follow up with customers on pending payments, reconcile accounts and generate invoices.
• Review daily tour guide and supplier accounts and assess tour costs.
• Forecast monthly and yearly profit & loss statements.
• Price new tours and update existing tour pricing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum two years of accounting experience, preferably in tourism or hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and managing financial records for multiple entities.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial team members.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Flexible and adaptable to dynamic tourism environments, with willingness to work weekends and holidays during peak periods.
