About the role
As the Medical Director for Oncology & Clinical Research in Egypt, you will lead the transformation of medical affairs at AstraZeneca, driving scientific leadership, rapid market access, and a customer‑centric, performance‑driven medical function.
Key responsibilities
- Define and lead the medical and clinical research strategy for the Oncology portfolio, aligning priorities with country objectives and business needs.
- Partner cross‑functionally to shape therapy area and brand strategies, ensuring strong evidence generation and dissemination before and after launch.
- Provide strategic oversight of the local clinical research agenda, including study feasibility, planning, recruitment, timelines, budgets, and vendor management.
- Strengthen medical organizational effectiveness by building a high‑performing, customer‑focused function supported by robust systems, processes, and governance.
- Reinforce AstraZeneca’s position as a scientific leader in Oncology through proactive medical contributions and trusted partnerships with investigators and healthcare stakeholders.
- Lead evidence generation activities across priority therapy areas using clinical studies, real‑world evidence, and other scientific initiatives.
- Provide expert medical and scientific input to support regulatory strategy, research execution, and timely market access.
- Ensure high‑quality clinical trial delivery through oversight of study plans, site performance, vendor deliverables, and risk escalation.
- Maintain full compliance with internal policies, pharma codes, local laws, patient safety, pharmacovigilance, and clinical trial governance.
- Build and develop capabilities across the function, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) or bachelor’s degree from a medical or pharmaceutical school.
- Extensive experience as a Medical Director in a pharmaceutical company.
- Proven oncology experience is mandatory.
- Strong background in relationship and stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities to drive change and transformation within a medical function.
