National Protocol & Liaison Officer

About the role

The International Organization for Migration is seeking a National Protocol & Liaison Officer to coordinate protocol matters for its Cairo office. Reporting to the Chief of Mission, the incumbent will act as the primary point of contact between IOM, United Nations entities, and Egyptian governmental authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide protocol and logistics liaison with the United Nations Office in Egypt, especially the Host Country Unit.
• Coordinate with UN and government representatives to resolve sensitive protocol issues affecting IOM staff.
• Monitor daily press releases and maintain regular communication with the UN Host Country Unit and relevant government bodies.
• Ensure staff are informed about immigration duty‑free and VAT exemption policies and conduct briefings for new personnel.
• Collect, distribute, and update relevant policies, guidelines, and procedural documents.
• Prepare and submit reimbursement claims related to protocol activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Law, International Relations or a related field, or a university degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of diplomatic protocol, especially within the United Nations system.
• Experience liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and familiarity with administrative procedures of international organizations.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to formulate opinions and recommendations.
• Fluency in spoken English and Arabic.
