Senior Backend Engineer – Python

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python expertise to design, build and scale the core services of b_labs, the digital transformation arm of B.TECH. You will work in a fast‑moving, startup‑like environment while benefiting from the stability of a leading Egyptian retailer.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain clean, modern RESTful APIs and data streams for frontend consumption.
• Integrate the platform with legacy systems and a variety of external services.
• Ensure application performance, scalability and reliability across micro‑service architecture.
• Write and maintain unit, integration and API tests.
• Contribute to a collaborative, values‑driven company culture.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily with Python.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming and software development principles.
• Proven experience building and tuning large‑scale RESTful services.
• Hands‑on experience with relational (SQL/PostgreSQL) and non‑relational databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, Redis).
• Experience with micro‑service architecture and automated testing.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), scripting (Bash/Shell), Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Knowledge of loan management or core banking systems is a plus.
