Senior Quality Engineer – Metro/Rail Projects

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality management on metro and railway projects in Egypt. The role ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and railway standards while coordinating closely with clients, consultants, and construction teams.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the project‑specific Quality Management Plan (QMP) and maintain Project Quality Procedures, ITPs and method statements.
• Act as the primary interface with the customer and consultant for all quality matters, attending daily and weekly progress meetings.
• Prepare, submit and follow up Material Inspection Requests (MIR) and Work Inspection Requests (WIR) and supervise site inspections.
• Lead punch‑list generation, distribution, tracking and closure across all disciplines.
• Oversee metro testing and commissioning phases (PICO, SIT, SAT) and approve test records.
• Plan and conduct internal quality audits, prepare monthly quality reports and KPI dashboards.
• Supervise and train quality engineers, site inspectors and document controllers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of quality assurance experience on metro or railway projects.
• Strong knowledge of metro system interfaces, testing phases and relevant standards (EN, IEC, AREMA, NFPA 130).
• Excellent understanding of ISO 9001 and QA/QC practices.
• Proven ability to manage MIR/WIR cycles, NCR closure and punch‑list systems.
• Proficiency with document control and reporting tools (Excel, SharePoint, Aconex).
• Must be currently residing in Alexandria.
