Software Engineer – Remote Contract (GitHub Contributor)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer to contribute expert-level code, debugging strategies, and development insights to open-source projects on GitHub. This remote contract role offers 10-40 hours per week, allowing you to work on diverse codebases using modern languages.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality code samples, debugging techniques, and development guidance in Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks across varied projects.
• Design and implement robust new features with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and best-practice standards.
• Refactor and optimize legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
• Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and code decisions to enrich AI training data.
• Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for accuracy and clarity.

Required profile

• Significant hands-on expertise in at least one of the listed programming languages.
• Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and core software engineering principles.
• Proven ability to debug complex systems, resolve bugs, and deliver effective optimizations.
• Experience with large codebase refactoring and legacy system modernization.
• Track record of delivering high-impact features from conception through delivery within cross-functional projects.
