Civil QA/QC Inspector (Onsite Zambia)

About the role

The Civil QA/QC Inspector will oversee all quality activities related to civil construction on a renewable‑energy project in Zambia. Reporting to the Quality Manager and Project Manager, the role ensures that earthworks, foundations, structural works and site infrastructure meet approved designs, specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect civil and structural works including site preparation, earthworks, grading, drainage, pile and reinforced‑concrete foundations, cable trenches, access roads and perimeter fencing.
• Review EPC contractor civil ITPs, method statements and material submittals.
• Witness geotechnical and material testing such as soil compaction, concrete cube testing and rebar inspection.
• Issue and track non‑conformance reports (NCRs) for civil construction defects.
• Review concrete mix designs, material certifications and third‑party laboratory test reports.
• Inspect mounting structure foundation bolt installations against approved drawings.
• Participate in pre‑pour inspections, formwork checks and post‑pour visual reviews.
• Coordinate with the electrical QA/QC Inspector on underground cabling and ducting quality.
• Maintain organized inspection records, photographic documentation and prepare QA/QC status reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of civil construction inspection or quality control experience.
• At least 3 years on renewable‑energy, power or heavy civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical, structural and construction material standards.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and civil construction quality documentation.
• Experience in EPC contract inspection roles is preferred.

Required skills

• AutoCAD for drawing review.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS.
