Rolling Stock Engineer (Depot Equipment)

About the role

The Rolling Stock Engineer leads and manages maintenance operations for rolling stock and depot equipment, ensuring reliability, availability and safety. The role combines operational efficiency, technical excellence and proactive team leadership to drive continuous improvement in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all maintenance activities for rolling stock and depot equipment, monitoring efficiency and implementing corrective actions.
• Investigate damages, equipment failures and recurring issues to improve system reliability.
• Ensure compliance with planned and corrective maintenance schedules and coordinate cross‑functional technical efforts.
• Analyze trainset performance using diagnostic tools and field data.
• Manage human, material and financial resources, optimise spare‑parts usage and support capital investment planning.
• Lead day‑to‑day team coordination, task assignment, shift management and conflict resolution.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in Maximo (or equivalent MMS), generate and close work orders, and analyse data trends.
• Promote occupational health and safety compliance, conduct toolbox talks and lead incident investigations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations and maintenance management of rolling stock or similar heavy‑equipment assets.
• Strong capability to manage resources, develop training programmes and build competency plans.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience coaching and mentoring technical teams.
• Solid understanding of safety regulations and risk mitigation protocols.
• Ability to work with subcontractors and suppliers to meet maintenance requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Maximo or equivalent Maintenance Management System.
• Use of diagnostic tools for trainset performance analysis.
• Maintenance planning and spare‑parts forecasting.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards in a rail environment.
