Senior Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead on‑site activities for our energy infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for organising, staffing and directing the site from hand‑over to final commissioning, ensuring safety, quality and schedule compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan on‑site activities together with the Project Manager, securing resources, equipment and milestones.
• Coordinate agreements with customers, partners and external resources on construction targets, health & safety requirements and site policies.
• Manage the full lifecycle of the site – start‑up, construction, erection, testing and commissioning – in line with contract specifications and quality standards.
• Act as the project representative, building relationships with customers, authorities, banks and suppliers to obtain support for field activities.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date Health & Safety plan for each work package and ensure all personnel are trained on ABB/Hitachi Energy HSE policies.
• Authorize suspension of work in case of HSE violations and take corrective actions to protect personnel.
• Oversee handling, storage and installation of ABB‑delivered equipment, coordinating on‑site storage and shipment logistics.
• Support Project Management and Supply Chain in supplier negotiations, claims and change orders.
• Manage subcontractors on site to achieve required quality, progress and delivery dates.
• Control project costs, monitor actual spend against forecasts and manage petty cash and local purchasing within delegated limits.
• Ensure all project documentation is current, correctly filed and the latest revisions are used on site.
• Guarantee compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing large‑scale construction or energy projects on site.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards and the authority to enforce them.
• Ability to lead and develop direct and indirect reports within HR policies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience in cost control, budgeting and petty‑cash management.
