About the role
We are looking for a Country Finance Manager to lead our finance function in Egypt. You will act as the primary finance liaison with local authorities, banks, auditors and other external partners, ensuring compliance and supporting the company’s global trade operations.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the key finance representative for Egypt towards local authorities, banks, auditors, advisors, and other external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with governance requirements for all legal entities in the country as per Maersk’s Commit Rule with legal support.
- Govern local statutory accounting compliance and support tax, legal and compliance functions.
- Maintain country‑level oversight of financial books, including entity‑level P&L, balance sheet, statutory ledger, SG&A accruals, provisions, and other critical financial movements.
- Document one‑off transactions, SG&A accruals, BCO provisions, write‑offs, fixed assets, CAPEX/OPEX and periodic movements to ensure integrity of financial statements.
- Prepare statutory financial reports accurately and on time in coordination with Global Service Center, ATR, Legal, external auditors and advisors.
- Support and govern audit requirements, review audit observations and follow‑up on remediation actions.
- Monitor country tax compliance requirements and regulatory changes in coordination with Regional Tax, GSC teams and local tax consultants.
- Support Regional Tax and GSC teams in tax filings, assessments, inquiries, inspections, audits, litigation and tax‑related projects.
- Govern local submissions and filings such as e‑invoicing, GAFI and other statutory or regulatory requirements.
- Act as country anchor point for financial control, risk control compliance performance, control deficiencies, data privacy, governance controls and internal policy compliance.
- Ensure adherence to anti‑fraud, anti‑bribery, sanctions, transport control, commit rule and other governance requirements.
- Align local finance processes with global taxonomies while reflecting country‑specific SOPs, statutory requirements and business needs.
- Provide local finance expertise, regulatory interpretation, escalation support and guidance to GSC ATR, PTP, SG&A and OTC teams.
- Support working capital improvement by providing insight for debit balances, workflow performance, manual/governmental payments and intercompany settlements.
Required profile
- Proven experience in finance management within a multinational environment.
- Strong knowledge of Egyptian statutory accounting, tax regulations and compliance.
- Experience handling audits, preparing statutory financial statements and coordinating with external auditors.
- Ability to interact with local authorities, banks and other external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with financial control, risk and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to work with global finance teams and align local processes with global standards.
