Environmental & Social Specialist (Renewable Energy)

About the role

Provide operational support on environmental and social aspects for renewable energy projects in Egypt, covering assessments, permitting, land acquisition, labour, and community engagement throughout development, construction and operation phases.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with landowners, local communities and stakeholders, promoting socio‑economic development and environmental protection.
• Act as Alcazar Energy’s primary contact for all E&S matters, liaising with consultants, advisors, governmental authorities and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate site‑based tasks of E&S consultants during ESIA development, including site visits, stakeholder access and meeting participation.
• Monitor ESIA progress, review deliverables and ensure compliance with the E&S Compliance Framework, budget and schedule.
• Plan and manage stakeholder engagement activities, disclose ESIA information, and implement community mitigation measures.
• Support the development, review and implementation of the Stakeholder Engagement Plan.
• Assist with lenders’ environmental and social due‑diligence processes and periodic monitoring visits.
• Serve as first point of contact for grievance management, filtering and ensuring timely resolution.
• Monitor and report on E&S performance of EPC and O&M contractors and their subcontractors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental and social assessments, permitting and land acquisition for renewable energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of international E&S frameworks and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with local communities, NGOs and governmental bodies.
• Experience coordinating consultants and managing stakeholder engagement plans.
• Familiarity with grievance mechanisms and contractor performance monitoring.
