Telecom Technician – Cairo Metro Line 3

About the role

The Telecom Technician will ensure the optimal operation of all telecommunications systems across Cairo Metro Line 3, covering stations, tunnels and depots. Responsibilities include maintaining radio, intercom, CCTV, fire detection, public address, clocks, passenger information displays, voice recording and network cabling, while adhering to safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on telecom systems such as CCTV, PIS, intercom, fire detection and clock networks.
• Respond quickly to faults and carry out emergency repairs to minimise service interruptions.
• Install, test and commission telecom equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
• Conduct safety checks and diagnostic tests on telecom and networking hardware using specialised test equipment.
• Assist supervisors with daily activities and minor modifications across all Line 3 sites.
• Supervise subcontractors, ensuring maintenance plans are executed safely and accurately.
• Document and report all maintenance activities to management.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts, order supplies and keep tools in good condition.
• Observe safety protocols, monitor hazards and report incidents.
• Work night shifts, weekends and be available for emergency call‑outs as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in Electronics or Telecommunications preferred.
• Strong understanding of light‑current systems (CCTV, PIS, intercom, fire alarms, radio).
• Basic networking knowledge and experience with structured cabling.
• Ability to read technical diagrams, layouts and blueprints.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in telecom or electronic system maintenance, preferably in railway or infrastructure environments.
• Proven track record in troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of telecom systems.
