About the role
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) seeks a senior consultant to design a global, adaptable, user‑oriented costing and analytical tool. The tool will estimate health and economic impacts of reducing medically unindicated cesarean sections and related obstetric interventions, and will be piloted in Egypt with potential roll‑out to other Arab States.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a desk review of existing resources and evidence relevant to the consultancy objective.
- Design a global, adaptable tool to estimate unit and national costs of current intervention rates, including costs of physician‑delivered care, complications, and potential savings.
- Develop user‑oriented methodological guidance for applying and adapting the tool across countries.
- Participate in stakeholder consultations, validation workshops, and attend all coordination meetings.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in Health Economics, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in health economics, health systems, maternal and newborn health, or midwifery workforce planning.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing health economic models and cost analyses.
