About the role

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid provides leadership and operational oversight for the Financial Aid office at Louisiana State University of Alexandria. This professional supervises counselors and student workers while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise and train Financial Aid Counselors and student workers.
• Import and export Department of Education files via PowerFAIDS and EdConnect, including FAFSA submissions, corrections, and disbursement files for Pell Grant, TEACH Grant, and Direct Student Loans.
• Request and review reports from NSLDS and COD, monitoring lifetime loan and grant limits.
• Disburse all financial aid funds and reconcile accounts to meet required timelines.
• Coordinate with the Louisiana Vocational Rehabilitation Program and Workforce Investment Act Program to determine eligibility and post awards.
• Process employee tuition exemptions and adjust aid for enrollment changes.
• Execute Return to Title IV procedures for students who withdraw, notifying accounting and students.
• Maintain the financial aid website, NetPartner, and social media updates.
• Update selection sets, letters, and documents annually in PowerFAIDS to reflect policy changes.
• Send weekly notices to students missing required documentation.

Required profile

• Experience supervising staff in a higher‑education financial aid environment.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines and reporting requirements.
