Buyer – Direct Procurement

About the role

The Buyer – Direct Procurement will manage sourcing and supplier performance for components used in Schneider Electric’s energy management and automation solutions. The role supports the “Local for Local” strategy, ensuring cost‑efficient, reliable and sustainable sourcing while enabling regionalization.

Key responsibilities

• Execute sourcing strategies aligned with the Global Category Management framework, leading RFQs, supplier selection and commercial negotiations.
• Manage sourcing of electrical enclosures, sheet‑metal parts, plastics, injection‑molded components and electromechanical assemblies.
• Identify, qualify and onboard suppliers, assessing manufacturing processes, quality systems, capacity and scalability.
• Monitor and drive supplier KPIs such as On‑Time Delivery, Supplier Quality (PPM) and lead‑time performance.
• Deliver annual cost‑reduction targets through should‑cost analysis, benchmarking and value‑engineering initiatives.
• Maintain purchase orders, contracts and supplier data in SAP and Schneider Electric digital procurement tools, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Collaborate with global category managers, engineering, quality, planning, logistics and manufacturing on NPI, PPAP, APQP and First Article Inspection.
• Support localization by developing local supplier ecosystems to improve lead times, supply continuity and cost efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement, sourcing and supplier performance management.
• Strong analytical skills with a track record of delivering cost‑competitiveness and productivity improvements.
• Familiarity with SAP or equivalent digital procurement systems and internal audit requirements.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics teams.
