Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

About the role

SAWA Foundation is seeking a strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization through a critical growth phase. The CEO will translate board directives into actionable plans, build a robust institutional framework, and champion SAWA’s mission to improve marriage readiness and family stability in Egypt.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise implementation of SAWA’s strategic directions and convert board frameworks into operational pathways.
• Design and establish SAWA’s institutional model, structure, and processes while recruiting and leading a high‑performing senior team.
• Ensure program quality, credibility, and evidence‑based design, benchmarking against leading models.
• Act as the primary spokesperson, forging partnerships with universities, government bodies, funders, and ecosystem partners.
• Develop and execute a sustainable funding strategy, reporting financial health to the board.
• Collaborate closely with the board, providing strategic options and candid counsel.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 3 years at an executive level.
• Proven track record building and scaling social, educational, or public‑impact organizations.
• Extensive experience navigating Egyptian government and institutional relations.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource mobilization.
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred in social sciences, public policy, psychology, public health, or business.
• Fluent Arabic and strong English communication skills.
• Deep understanding of Egypt’s social context and sensitivity to family and marriage issues.
