Data Engineer

About the role

LAKEORA is seeking a Data Engineer to join its fast‑growing team in Riyadh. You will work on production‑grade data platforms built on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, helping Saudi enterprises unlock value from their data assets.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines using Spark (PySpark and SQL) on Databricks under senior guidance.
• Support technical discovery sessions, capture requirements and document findings.
• Contribute to technical demos and client deliverables, progressing toward independent presentations.
• Translate defined requirements into working pipeline components and transformations.
• Apply engineering best practices such as code reviews, unit testing, Git, and Agile delivery.
• Troubleshoot data quality and pipeline issues with growing independence.
• Stay current on Databricks, data engineering, GenAI and AI through hands‑on learning and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of data engineering experience or a strong portfolio of relevant projects.
• Solid SQL fundamentals and working Python experience (ideally with PySpark).
• Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT and pipeline design.
• Familiarity with a cloud platform (Azure, AWS or GCP).
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Strong communication skills and comfort engaging directly with clients.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or a related STEM field.
