DevOps Staff Engineer

About the role

Modupay is looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operation of its real‑time, microservices‑based financial platform. You will combine hands‑on delivery with technical leadership to build secure, highly observable, and automated environments that support mission‑critical payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters for microservices using Helm, Docker, and modern deployment practices.
• Implement GitOps workflows with ArgoCD (or equivalent) to strengthen release control.
• Own CI/CD pipelines and release automation using GitHub Actions and related tooling.
• Build and maintain observability across logs, metrics, dashboards, tracing, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Implement infrastructure security controls such as TLS/mTLS, secrets management, and fine‑grained access control.
• Partner with backend engineers on deployment, configuration, and production readiness.
• Support PostgreSQL and Redis infrastructure from deployment and operations perspectives.
• Improve platform resilience through backups, capacity planning, incident support, and performance tuning.
• Standardize infrastructure and deployment patterns across environments.
• Mentor engineers through documentation, technical guidance, code reviews, and hands‑on support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong ownership mindset, troubleshooting ability, and communication skills.
• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated environments.
• Professional working proficiency in English; Arabic is a plus.
