Director – Internal Audit & Risk

About the role

The Director – Internal Audit & Risk will lead the internal audit function for a fast‑moving FMCG manufacturing company in Kuala Lumpur. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will oversee senior and junior auditors, drive risk‑based audit programmes and provide strategic assurance across finance, compliance, operations and IT.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Internal Audit department, ensuring execution of the annual audit plan and risk assessments.
• Conduct integrated audits and special reviews covering financial, operational, compliance and IT controls.
• Prepare formal audit reports with findings, risk mitigation recommendations and actionable insights for senior management.
• Mentor and evaluate audit team members, perform Level 2 review of workpapers, and ensure adherence to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF).
• Develop audit metrics, heat maps and KPI dashboards for monthly reporting.
• Coordinate audit activities with functional areas, manage audit universe updates and act as audit representative to client entities.

Required profile

• Professional qualifications such as CA, CIA, CISA or CPA.
• Prior experience in a Big 4 or Tier II audit firm, preferably with exposure to FMCG manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IPPF).
• Experience in IT audit and risk assessment methodologies.
