Director of Engineering – Facilities Management

About the role

The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational performance of the property’s building, grounds, and physical plant. This senior position oversees budgeting, capital projects, preventative maintenance, and energy‑conservation initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering operations, managing HVAC‑R, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and water‑treatment systems.
• Develop and control the engineering budget, capital‑expenditure projects, and long‑term asset‑protection plans.
• Administer service contracts and supervise construction projects to ensure timely, on‑budget completion.
• Ensure fire‑safety systems and life‑safety compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.
• Coordinate emergency response for all facility issues and train fire crews on procedures and equipment.
• Monitor and reduce controllable expenses such as heat, light, power, water consumption, and supplies.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 6 years of engineering‑maintenance experience, **or** an associate degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, etc., with 4 years of experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical systems, and plumbing.
