Director of Finance and Commercial Operations

About the role

The Director of Finance and Commercial Operations will lead financial management, sales, distribution, inventory control, and retail bookstore functions for AUC Press. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role ensures accurate accounting, budget compliance, and operational efficiency across local and international markets.

Key responsibilities

• Control all accounting operations to guarantee reliable financial data, timely reporting, and correct valuation of assets, including fixed assets and inventories.
• Coordinate the development of the annual operating budget and long‑term financial plans in alignment with central university finance offices.
• Execute commercial and sales activities across local and international markets to achieve operational targets.
• Direct distribution, warehouse operations, and inventory levels, both locally and internationally.
• Recruit, orient, train, and manage performance of finance, business, warehouse, and retail bookstore staff.
• Oversee implementation, upgrades, and process revisions of finance and retail software systems.
• Undertake additional initiatives supporting university needs.

Required profile

• University degree in finance or accounting.
• Minimum 12 years of experience, preferably in publishing or manufacturing; retail experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
• Fluent in English and Arabic, written and spoken.
