Instructor of English – Undergraduate Writing

About the role

The Louisiana State University of Alexandria seeks an enthusiastic Instructor of English to join its Liberal Arts department. The successful candidate will deliver first‑year writing and general‑education English courses to undergraduate students, supporting the university’s mission of high‑quality education in Central Louisiana.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a full 5/5 load of undergraduate English and composition courses, including first‑year writing.
• Maintain required weekly office hours for student advising and support.
• Participate actively on departmental and university committees.
• Provide community service and outreach aligned with the university’s goals.
• Integrate educational technology across on‑campus, hybrid, and online delivery formats.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in English or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate English credits.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence, preferably with a specialization in composition.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Eligibility for promotion to Senior Instructor after nine years of service.
