About the role
The Instrumentation & Control Engineer provides specialist technical expertise for instrumented protective systems and process control systems, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of production assets. The role combines hands‑on engineering with leadership, mentoring, risk management and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver senior I&C engineering support to enable safe, reliable and efficient operations and maintenance.
- Own process‑safety barriers (BPCS, SIS, alarms, fire & gas/shutdown systems) and drive their health and performance.
- Maintain and improve alarm system performance through rationalisation, KPI monitoring and sustainable solutions.
- Lead risk assessments, HAZOPs, LOPAs, SIL assessments and other process‑safety activities.
- Manage digital security risks for automation systems and implement cybersecurity improvement plans.
- Provide pragmatic engineering solutions to enhance safety, efficiency, reliability and equipment availability.
- Troubleshoot complex instrumentation, process‑control, packaged‑unit, telecommunication and measurement systems.
- Own assigned equipment, develop strategies, procedures and technical documentation, and align maintenance tasks within the Maintenance Management System.
Required profile
- Senior‑level engineering experience in instrumentation and control within an industrial environment.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor junior engineers and guide contractors.
- Strong understanding of process‑safety barrier management and risk‑based decision making.
- Experience conducting HAZOP, LOPA and SIL assessments.
- Capability to manage cybersecurity aspects of automation systems.
