IP Security Operations Engineer

About the role

The IP Security Operations Engineer is the technical authority for the IP security domain within Ericsson's Managed Services organization. You will own the end‑to‑end operation of the customer’s IP backbone security infrastructure, ensuring high availability, resilience and optimal performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the IP backbone security environment, handling upgrades, patches and configuration changes.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex security incidents, performing root‑cause analysis and driving corrective actions.
• Mentor and support engineers in troubleshooting multi‑vendor security solutions such as firewalls, IPS, authentication servers, load balancers and DDoS protection.
• Monitor traffic, define performance baselines and investigate anomalies or service degradations.
• Conduct risk assessments, identify threats and develop mitigation strategies aligned with industry standards.
• Validate and drive security expansions, replacements and optimisation projects.
• Coordinate high‑urgency cases, on‑call escalations and vendor interactions.
• Produce technical documentation, reports and stakeholder communications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, IT Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in network/IP security operations within complex, multi‑vendor environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Hands‑on expertise with IP security technologies and network security architectures.
• Experience with multi‑vendor firewalls and security platforms (Juniper SRX, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
• Knowledge of IPS, authentication servers, load balancers and DDoS protection solutions.
• Understanding of telecom‑grade networks and service‑provider security challenges.
