Junior Database Administrator

About the role

The Junior Database Administrator will support the performance, integrity, availability, and security of our database systems. Working closely with development and operations teams, you will help ensure data consistency, optimise database performance, and implement robust backup and recovery processes.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade and maintain database management systems (DBMS).
• Monitor database performance and apply tuning and optimisation improvements.
• Enforce database security, data integrity, backup and recovery standards.
• Manage and support database environments for applications and end‑users.
• Implement disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot database‑related issues.
• Assist with database development activities and evaluate new database technologies.
• Prepare documentation and deliver guidance or training to users when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in database administration, maintenance and support.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise workload and solve complex database problems.
• High commitment to data accuracy, quality and security.

Required skills

• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL (or similar DBMS).
• Proficiency in SQL and procedural SQL languages.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery and disaster recovery operations.
