Junior Site Reliability (DevOps Engineer) – Apprenticeship

About the role

Our client, a software house, is seeking a Junior Site Reliability Engineer to join their SRE team on an apprenticeship basis. Working under the guidance of a Senior SRE, you will gain hands‑on experience with installations, deployments, monitoring and on‑call support, with a clear path to a senior position within 2–3 years.

Key responsibilities

• Execute Linux/Windows provisioning, database installation, Docker and Kubernetes setup, and application deployments under Senior SRE direction.
• Apply releases and updates following runbooks, flagging any gaps.
• Monitor APM dashboards, manage alert volumes, and investigate unresolved alerts.
• Perform scheduled health‑check visits at client sites, initially paired then independently.
• Participate in on‑call rotation after a 90‑day onboarding period, handling triage, basic diagnostics and escalation.
• Communicate with clients in Arabic and English during routine incidents.
• Contribute to and improve runbooks after each incident or installation.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, junior DevOps or production support.
• Professional bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Willingness to be on‑call and work on‑site with client visits.

Required skills

• Linux fundamentals (terminal, package management, log analysis, networking).
• Docker basics, including building, running, debugging containers and using Docker‑Compose.
• Kubernetes basics (kubectl, pods, deployments, services, namespaces, reading logs/events).
• Experience with at least one database: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Redis.
• Scripting in Bash and/or Python.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), even at lab scale.
