Lab Chemist – Colour Matching & LRM

About the role

Coats is seeking a Lab Chemist to support bulk production by coordinating all laboratory operations, including colour matching, sample preparation and LRM (Lab Request Management) activities. The role ensures high‑quality recipes are produced within agreed lead times and technical standards, contributing to the company’s KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate resources optimally to manage laboratory workload and meet shade tolerance and service lead‑time targets.
• Monitor, analyse and report lab‑to‑bulk reproducibility, working closely with the bulk dye house team.
• Investigate customer shade complaints in partnership with the Quality Department and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with the sales team to provide timely feedback on DTM and sample order requests.
• Track daily and monthly colour matching performance and communicate colour development issues across Coats units.
• Ensure all LRM requests are processed according to SOPs and promote high‑quality recipes for bulk production.

Required profile

• Proven experience in laboratory operations within a textile or performance‑materials environment.
• Ability to work shift patterns and ensure smooth handover between shifts.
• Strong analytical skills for monitoring colour reproducibility and handling shade complaints.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the CF2000E colour measurement instrument.
• Colour measurement and colour matching expertise.
• Sample preparation and laboratory batch testing.
