Lead Urban Engineer

About the role

Atkins Realis is expanding its Urban Design practice in Cairo and seeks a Lead Urban Engineer to own and drive small‑to‑medium urban design and planning projects across the Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of master‑planning and urban‑design concepts using 3D and digital tools.
• Produce drawings, graphics, models and reports from concept through detailed design.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and coordinate interdisciplinary teams.
• Draft technical reports and contractual documents to Atkins quality standards.
• Mentor junior staff, oversee their work quality and contribute to hiring and team growth.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Urban Design (or related) and at least 12 years of professional experience in master‑planning projects.
• Proven experience delivering urban design/public‑realm projects in the Middle East or internationally.
• Strong communication, presentation and leadership skills, with ability to work independently and guide multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper and freehand drawing.
• Advanced use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp and BIM‑related software.
• Expertise in GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Advanced Excel and MS Office, plus Google Pro.
