Legal Counsel – Corporate Lawyer

About the role

Colas Rail Egypt is looking for a Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support to its railway operations, including construction and maintenance of rail lines and metro systems. The role involves analysing tender documentation, drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on Egyptian labour law, coordinating compliance programmes and supporting litigation strategies in close collaboration with local and international teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse legal documentation for public tenders, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts (supply agreements, sub‑contracts, service agreements, consortium and joint‑venture agreements).
• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to operation teams and the Country Director on Egyptian law matters.
• Support the HR department on labour and employment issues.
• Coordinate the implementation of the Group’s compliance programme and act as the Compliance Officer.
• Develop and manage litigation strategies together with contract managers and the Paris legal department, including coordination with external counsel.
• Handle corporate formalities for the local entity in liaison with the corporate team in France.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Law (Master’s degree is a plus).
• 6‑8 years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction or industrial sector.
• Fluent in Arabic and English; French is an advantage.
• Demonstrates ethics, integrity, self‑motivation and strong teamwork skills.
