Manager, Capacity Building – J-PAL MENA (Grant Position)

About the role

The Manager of Capacity Building will lead J-PAL MENA’s training programme, designing and delivering evidence‑based curricula to policymakers across Egypt and the wider MENA region. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role combines pedagogical innovation, partnership management, and team leadership to embed rigorous impact evaluation methods into public policy.

Key responsibilities

• Design, adapt, and deliver high‑quality training materials in English and Arabic, ensuring technical accuracy and regional relevance.
• Coordinate logistics, participant communications, and execution of workshops, lectures, and customized courses.
• Develop and manage multi‑year partnerships with governments, NGOs, and donors, contributing to grant proposals and donor relations.
• Oversee the J-PAL MENA Scholars Fellowship program from admissions through calendar execution, aligning with donor commitments and university standards.
• Recruit, coach, and develop officer‑level staff, expanding the capacity‑building framework.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics or a related field with advanced coursework in microeconomics, econometrics, and development economics.
• Eight to ten years of professional experience, including impact evaluation and evidence‑informed policymaking.
• Proven experience in policy design, implementation, or monitoring and evaluation, preferably with government entities.
• Demonstrated leadership in building and coaching junior teams.
• Track record of developing external partnerships; fundraising experience is a plus.
