Managing Director – Paper Bags Plant (Cairo)

About the role

The Managing Director will lead two Mondi paper‑bags converting plants in Cairo, overseeing roughly 150 employees. Reporting to the Regional Managing Director Middle East, you will be responsible for all aspects of plant performance, from people management to sales, production, logistics, procurement, maintenance, quality, and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic vision with the local leadership team to achieve growth and operational excellence.
• Own full profit & loss responsibility, driving cost control, investment planning, and profitability.
• Oversee plant operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, productivity, continuous improvement, environmental compliance, and quality assurance.
• Build and lead a high‑performing plant leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and employee engagement.
• Manage product portfolio development, aligning with sustainability targets and customer expectations.
• Drive sales performance, working closely with the sales team and key internal accounts.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, shareholders, and local authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field; MBA preferred.
• More than 8 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably within the packaging industry.
• Proven track record of managing profit & loss, operational performance, and large multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work in a global organization and navigate diverse functional mindsets.
