O&M Mechanical Engineer (Power Plant)

About the role

The O&M Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment in a gas‑engine‑fired power plant. The role ensures that mechanical systems run efficiently, reliably and safely while complying with company policies, environmental regulations and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain gas engines, cooling systems, pumps, piping and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Develop and execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance plans.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of mechanical faults and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and reports using SAP and CMMS.
• Conduct periodic inspections, tests and performance evaluations to meet safety and operational standards.
• Collaborate with electrical and controls teams to ensure seamless plant integration.
• Assist in planning and executing scheduled outages, overhauls and system upgrades.
• Research, procure and manage spare parts, tools and materials.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians.
• Support mechanical maintenance budgeting and ensure activities stay within budget.
• Promote a safe working environment and enforce housekeeping standards.
• Coordinate with external vendors and contractors during maintenance activities.
• Prepare periodic reports on system status and performance for plant management.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2‑3 years of experience in operation & maintenance of power‑generation plants, focusing on mechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of gas‑engine, cooling, pump and piping systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary plant environment.
