Pastry Commis – Hotel Kitchen (Cairo)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail‑oriented Pastry Commis to join our hotel kitchen in Cairo. Working side‑by‑side with experienced pastry chefs, you will help create high‑quality pastries, cakes, and baked goods while upholding the highest standards of food safety and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare pastry doughs, batters, and fillings according to established recipes with precision.
• Assist in producing cakes, tarts, pastries and other baked items, ensuring uniform quality.
• Operate ovens, mixers and specialized pastry tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized pastry station and manage ingredient storage.
• Monitor baking times and temperatures to achieve optimal results and minimise waste.
• Support pastry decoration, plating and presentation to meet aesthetic standards.
• Follow strict food safety and hygiene protocols at all times.
• Help with inventory tracking, supply ordering and communication of needs.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of pastry items.

Required profile

• Minimum primary school education.
• At least 1 year of experience in a pastry, baking or similar culinary role.
• Good oral proficiency in English.
• Strong attention to detail and a service‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
• Professional appearance and grooming standards.
• Physical stamina for standing long periods and repetitive tasks.
