Pastry Commis (Level 2) – Hotel Bakery

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Pastry Commis (Level 2) to join our hotel bakery team. You will work closely with the Senior Chef and the bakery crew to produce a wide range of breads, pastries, cakes and other baked goods for daily service, buffets and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, mixing and baking of breads, pastries, cakes and desserts following standard recipes.
• Support the Senior Chef with daily mise‑en‑place and ensure consistent quality, taste and presentation of all baked products.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, proofers and other tools.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling and rotation of all bakery ingredients in line with HACCP guidelines.
• Uphold hygiene, sanitation and safety standards throughout the work area.
• Help with inventory control, stock replenishment and waste reduction.
• Prepare items for buffet setups, events and regular service while keeping the workstation clean and organized.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a bakery or pastry environment, preferably in a hotel setting.
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques, dough handling and pastry fundamentals.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and follow instructions.
• Positive attitude, teamwork skills and willingness to learn.

• HACCP compliance and food safety practices
• Inventory management and stock control
• Familiarity with the Opera hotel management system (asset)
