Protection of Family Links Field Officer

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking a Protection of Family Links Field Officer to support its Restoring Family Links (RFL) programme. Based in Cairo, the officer will work directly with families separated by conflict, helping them reconnect and ensuring their needs are understood and addressed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain contacts with separated families, missing persons’ relatives and other enquirers.
• Collect, document and follow up tracing cases in line with ICRC guidelines.
• Receive visitors and callers, ensure timely and appropriate responses, and maintain accurate records.
• Carry out filing, archiving and other administrative tasks according to standard procedures.
• Assist in planning, budgeting and monitoring of protection activities.
• Represent ICRC in meetings, field visits and external engagements, preparing reports as required.
• Maintain liaison with humanitarian organisations, civil‑society groups and other stakeholders.
• Provide translation or interpretation services when requested.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the humanitarian context and the needs of families affected by armed conflict.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with vulnerable individuals.
• Ability to work under supervision while managing multiple cases independently.
• Attention to detail for accurate documentation and information sharing.
• Willingness to travel locally and represent ICRC in various settings.
