Senior 3D Simulation Designer & Developer

About the role

United ITS is expanding its aviation software engineering and simulation teams. We are looking for a senior 3D Simulation Designer & Developer to create high‑fidelity, interactive 3D environments that support mission‑critical training and scientific simulations.

Key responsibilities

• Model, texture, and optimise high‑quality 3D assets (hard‑surface, environments, characters) for real‑time simulation.
• Integrate assets into Unity or Unreal Engine, configuring lighting, physics, and material properties.
• Develop interactive simulation logic, procedural scenarios, and behaviours using C#, C++ or Blueprints.
• Conduct technical art audits, manage draw calls, polygon budgets, LODs and shader optimisation for stable frame rates on target hardware and XR setups.
• Create rigs and precise animations for mechanical parts or humanoids.
• Collaborate with software engineers and subject‑matter experts to translate real‑world aviation procedures into accurate virtual experiences.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional 3D development experience in simulation, serious games or industrial digital twins.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating realistic 3D environments, interactive systems and optimisation.
• Solid understanding of linear algebra, vector math and real‑time physics engines.
• Experience with version‑control systems such as Git, Perforce or SVN.

Required skills

• Blender, 3ds Max or Maya for 3D modelling.
• Substance Painter / Substance Designer for texturing.
• Unity and/or Unreal Engine.
• C#, C++ and Python scripting.
• VR/AR/MR development.
• CAD data conversion tools (e.g., Pixyz).
• GIS data handling and large‑scale terrain generation.
