Senior Legal Counsel - Real Estate Development

About the role

Majid Al Futtaim Properties Egypt (MAFP Egypt) is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to lead and handle all legal aspects of its Development business. The role provides sound, cost-effective legal advice, support and services to MAFP Egypt Development on its current and future projects and business growth in Egypt.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal support to the VP, Legal – Development and key internal stakeholders, aligned with business objectives.
• Help develop and implement legal strategies, proactively identifying and mitigating legal and reputational risks.
• Give timely, practical legal advice on MAFP Egypt Development's matters, protecting company interests and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex and standard contracts, and maintain and update legal templates in line with business needs and legislative changes.
• Manage relationships with external law firms, supervising their work to match internal legal strategy and quality standards.
• Review and improve internal policies, processes and governance frameworks for compliance with laws, ethical standards and corporate governance principles.
• Advise on and support dispute resolution and litigation, with a focus on preventive lawyering and risk mitigation.
• Monitor and report on key legal developments in Egypt while adhering to MAF's code of conduct and compliance policies.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 10 years of progressive legal experience in Egypt's real estate or development sector.
• Bilingual in Arabic and English; LLM or MBA is an advantage.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality, detail-oriented work.
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

Required skills

• Strong expertise in real estate and construction law, with deep knowledge of Egyptian and international legal frameworks.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, able to explain complex legal and development topics clearly.
• Advanced problem-solving, strategic thinking, risk assessment and due diligence capabilities.
