Strategic Advisor

About the role

The Strategic Advisor will act as a trusted consultant to journal editors and institutional leaders, offering guidance on journal quality, publishing ethics, research integrity, indexing readiness, and emerging trends such as AI in scholarly publishing.

Key responsibilities

• Advise journals on quality improvement, indexing readiness, and long‑term sustainability to meet international standards.
• Author strategic advising content, run webinars, training sessions, workshops and presentations for editors and institutions.
• Produce impact reports, performance analyses and strategic recommendations using citation and indexing data.
• Represent Digital Commons at editorial board meetings, conferences and industry events.
• Partner with product, sales and consulting teams to identify client needs and drive service excellence.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant field with at least 5 years of research experience, or equivalent scholarly publishing experience.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
• Experience in academic publishing, scholarly communications, journal management or research support.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Scopus and Web of Science.
• Familiarity with research integrity, publishing ethics and open‑access standards.
• Comfort using AI tools and data analysis for reports and insights.
• Experience with Editorial Manager or similar manuscript submission systems (a plus).
