Teaching Assistant – Physics (Full‑time)

About the role

The Department of Physics at the German University in Cairo is looking for a full‑time Teaching Assistant to support undergraduate physics courses for engineering and pharmacy students. The role offers the chance to engage directly with students in lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions while contributing to the department’s research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering undergraduate physics lectures and laboratory classes.
• Conduct tutorial sessions and guide students through problem‑solving exercises.
• Prepare, grade and evaluate assignments, lab reports and examinations.
• Support the development of teaching materials and improve instructional methodologies.
• Participate in departmental research projects and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Carry out administrative and organisational duties as assigned.
• Contribute to academic and student‑related activities that further the department’s educational goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics with an “Excellent” or “Very Good” graduation grade.
• 1–3 years of experience teaching physics at university or college level.
• Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong communication, organization and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
• Cultural competence for interacting with students from varied backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating physics laboratory equipment.
