Automation Engineer – Reliability Maintenance

About the role

Join Amazon's Reliability Maintenance Engineering team to ensure high availability of automated material handling equipment across the global warehouse and delivery network. As an Automation Engineer you will troubleshoot, improve, and maintain control solutions for conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and related hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the site‑level Subject Matter Expert for all control systems and sensors.
• Monitor, fault‑find, and repair equipment to maintain optimal uptime.
• Train engineering technicians on basic control‑system troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with the AMET Controls network to enhance MHE metrics, visualization, and data reporting.
• Lead or support continuous‑improvement projects and ensure proper documentation and backup of PLC code.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and support of new equipment across global sites.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on unplanned stoppages and drive timely corrective actions.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with PLC‑controlled automation in a continuous production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Strong customer‑obsession and teamwork mindset.
• Willingness to train peers and share knowledge.

• PLC programming (IEC 61131‑3)
• SCADA systems

• Control cabinets and HMI interfaces
