Baggage Agent - Cairo

About the role

The Baggage Agent assists the Baggage Team Leader in managing baggage handling operations during assigned shifts, supporting smooth workflows and compliance with airline, airport authority and company standards. The role covers baggage sorting, reconciliation and delivery, and requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Baggage Team Leader in supervising baggage sorting, arrival and transfer processes.
• Hold team briefings on airline baggage standards, aircraft stand assignments, baggage tag scanning and hazardous goods handling.
• Verify the physical count of joining bags against the Baggage Reconciling System (BRS) at check-in closure and reconcile loaded baggage with boarded passengers, reporting discrepancies.
• Liaise with the airline and lost and found on rush baggage, and check Lost and Found and LZ baggage rooms regularly.
• Oversee container sheets, monitor baggage sorting and stacking on BHE, and check BHE units for defects and foreign object debris.
• Coordinate delivery and collection of empty BHE units and report defective ones to the Team Leader.
• Keep equipment and workspaces clean and tidy, and inspect baggage belt areas for fallen or misplaced items.
• Communicate with Ramp and Load Control teams on loading/unloading issues and weight and balance.
• Complete reporting forms and trip files accurately and on time, enforce safety standards, and report hazards and unsafe conditions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or minimum of 2 years of experience in baggage handling or related airport operations.
• Certifications in ground operations or baggage handling are advantageous.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical fitness and the ability to handle loads in various weather conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in baggage reconciliation systems and airline handling standards.
• Familiarity with company SMS policies and responsibilities.
