AML Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced AML Team Leader to oversee the Anti‑Money Laundering unit within a banking environment. Reporting to the Head of AML, you will drive the implementation of the annual AML plan, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead a team of investigators and analysts.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Head of AML to develop and execute action plans and initiatives aligned with the annual AML strategy.
• Assume the Head of AML’s duties in their absence, providing direction and oversight to the AML unit.
• Maintain relationships with internal control functions, external auditors, and regulatory bodies such as EMLCU and CBE.
• Monitor and evaluate workflow efficiency, ensuring timely and accurate generation of monitoring and statistical reports.
• Coordinate annual AML training programs with HR and address gaps in reporting processes.
• Review suspicious transaction reports, deliver periodic performance reports, and support corrective actions from audit findings.
• Allocate resources and redistribute tasks to maintain operational continuity, especially during staff shortages.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business or International Business.
• Professional AML certifications (introductory and advanced) and at least 6 years of AML/CFT experience.
• Fluency in Arabic and English; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of international and regional AML regulatory frameworks, particularly in the MENA region.
• Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities with a high level of integrity.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with AML/CFT automated systems.
