Assistant Cheer Coach - Gratis

About the role

The Assistant Cheer Coach supports the Head Cheer Coach in daily operations of the Louisiana State University of Alexandria cheer program. This unpaid, volunteer position involves coaching, practice planning, game‑day duties and community outreach while promoting academic success and team values.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Cheer Coach in planning and conducting practices.
• Lead practices and team activities when the Head Coach is absent.
• Teach and develop cheerleading skills such as motions, jumps, tumbling, stunts, pyramids, game‑day and competition routines.
• Provide spotting and safety instruction during all practices and performances.
• Travel with the team to athletic events, competitions, camps and university‑approved activities.
• Coordinate tryouts, recruitment events, youth camps, clinics and community outreach.
• Monitor academic progress and personal development of student‑athletes.
• Maintain inventory of uniforms, equipment and program supplies.
• Support fundraising, sponsorship initiatives and administrative tasks as assigned.
