Assistant Data Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking an Assistant Data Specialist to support its Regional Office for Arab States in Cairo. The role focuses on strengthening disaster risk analytics, improving data quality, and supporting the implementation of global disaster‑related statistical frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Support installation, implementation and operational use of DELTA‑Resilience for national disaster risk and resilience analytics.
• Assist in Sendai Framework Monitor (SFM) reporting, including data compilation, quality checks, validation and liaison with country coordinators.
• Contribute to improving loss and damage databases such as DesInventar, ensuring consistency and interoperability across national systems.
• Assist the Sendai Gender Action Plan by improving data disaggregation by sex, age, income, disability level and hazard type.
• Support implementation of Global Disaster‑Related Statistics Frameworks (G‑DRSF) and integration of disaster data with official statistics.
• Provide capacity‑building support through technical assistance, training and user support on disaster‑related statistics tools.
• Develop regional and national training materials for DELTA‑Resilience and SFM.
• Produce analytical inputs, reports and monitoring products for risk‑informed planning.
• Compile, clean and tabulate disaster‑related data and metadata, including SDG‑relevant information.
