Assistant GL Manager

About the role

Americana Restaurants is seeking an Assistant GL Manager to support the General Ledger function across its regional operations. The role will ensure accurate ledger entries, drive month‑end close activities, and collaborate closely with the Controller, FP&A Manager and other business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Review financial documents for accuracy and reconcile accounts in line with accounting standards and regulations.
• Analyze GL data and provide recommendations to senior management.
• Manage the monthly close process, including financial analysis and reporting.
• Supervise a team handling day‑to‑day financial tasks such as accounts closing, grant claims, taxes and audit support.
• Create and post monthly journal entries; maintain prepaid and deferred schedules.
• Review bank and corporate credit‑card reconciliations.
• Resolve escalated queries and disputes to maintain internal customer satisfaction.
• Maintain integrity of GL reconciliations to sub‑ledgers and supporting documents.
• Prioritise team workload, manage variance analysis, budget vs. actual, and provide audit support.
• Prepare periodic financial reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting (Master’s preferred).
• 7–9 years of solid finance/accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong analytical abilities and knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using an ERP system for general ledger accounting.
