Associate Director – Senior Risk Officer, Corporate & Project Finance

About the role

The Associate Director, Senior Risk Officer will independently analyse and appraise risks of EBRD’s corporate and project finance debt transactions in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. The role provides expert advice to bankers and senior committees, ensuring that each transaction complies with the Bank’s sound banking mandate and risk policies.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse new and existing portfolio projects, assign credit ratings and identify required due‑diligence.
• Recommend risk‑mitigation measures, transaction structures, security, covenants and pricing.
• Prepare credit notes and present recommendations to the Operations Committee, SBIC and other senior bodies.
• Lead and coach associate risk officers, analysts and junior bankers within the Credit Risk Management Team.
• Take ownership of the credit risk for a designated portfolio and ensure compliance with risk guidelines and prudential limits.
• Maintain and own risk data for the area of responsibility and exercise delegated authority where granted.
• Monitor climate‑related risk issues and incorporate mitigation strategies into project assessments.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in corporate and project finance risk assessment, preferably within a multilateral development bank or large financial institution.
• Strong understanding of credit risk metrics, probability of default and loss‑given‑default calculations.
• Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver clear, authoritative conclusions.
• Experience leading teams and providing mentorship to junior staff.
